Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be."

All About Me
I am absolutely thrilled to be in my eighth year of teaching! It is going to be a fun year of learning, creating classroom community, and new adventures! I am motivated to make this year a memorable experience for all.
In my classroom, it is my goal to provide a classroom environment that is welcoming and safe, encourages risk takers, promotes community, and accommodates all learning styles, abilities, and interests. I want your child to thrive in my classroom by experiencing learning that is hands-on in relation to real life situations and held to high expectations with responsibility for their learning. I will make sure I carry out my goal this year so your child will have more opportunities to be successful in the classroom.
I would like to share a few things about myself. I was born and raised on a farm in Murray, Nebraska. I attended Conestoga Public Schools where my love of teaching grew because of those who taught, encouraged and influenced me in different ways to pursue this career. After high school, I went to Doane College where I graduated May 2015 with a degree in elementary and special education. In the spring of 2017, I graduated with my masters from Doane College in Curriculum and Instruction. In the spring of 2022, I finished my HAL Endorsement through Midland University.
I believe parental support is a fundamental base for a student’s success, so I welcome any contact to me by phone, email, or written notes anytime. It is important that we communicate frequently for the benefit of your child. When you contact me, I will get back to you as soon as possible. My email address is dspurgin@gpsne.org and my school phone number is (402)332-5617.
